News and Events at Immedia Canalis loudspeakers, formerly known as Sonics by Joachim Gerhard, is now availalbe. Sonics by Joachim Gerhard and Spiral Groove formed a partnership in 2006 where speaker manufacturing was being done in Germany and Spiral Groove components were being made in the U.S. Recently, the Sonics brand has been re-named as Canalis, and all manufacturing has been moved to the Spiral Groove offices in Berkeley, CA. This move has allowed Allen Perkins to implement some of our Spiral Groove materials, resonance control techniques, and manufacturing methodology into the loudspeakers. All of our Canalis loudspeakers feature a unique 3-ply, cross-core, vertical grain bamboo cabinet, a new 2-layer shielded crossover board with a significant upgrade in component quality, proprietary GrooveLine internal wiring, and Eichmann Bullet Plug binding posts. Very importantly, the "soul" of every Canalis loudspeaker, that being the crossover topology, cabinet dimensions, and Seas driver selection, are pure Joachim Gerhard.
