Argenta
The Argenta is a classically-styled, two-way monitor which plays well
on a shelf or stand. Despite its small size it has sufficient output to
fill large rooms at typical listening levels.
Sound quality:
The Argentas' greatest strength is the absence of coloration. The
high-frequency range is silky, clear, and the vocal range is rich in
tone and color. The bass extends very deep with a warmth and
musicality. The Argenta plays very well with either tube or transistor
power amplifiers.
Tweeter:
The low distortion tweeter is a silk dome manufactured to close
tolerances and closely matched to tight standards. The tweeters'
reliability is enhanced with a ferro-fluid cooled voice coil.
Woofer/midrange speaker:
The woofer/midrange speaker is optimized for dynamic resolution and
maximum definition. All of its parts, including surround, spider,
magnetic field and voice coil position were optimized with the Klippel
distortion analyzer. Dynamic design parameters were analyzed using
laser technology. For the cone material we use a hand coated paper
membrane for low resonance and balanced frequency response. All this
effort allows a relatively simple crossover which benefits
transparency.
Cabinet:
The enclosure is built with two different materials to improve damping
characteristics. In addition, the cabinet walls are layered with
ceramic plates. Unlike many speakers at this price, the cabinet
features real wood veneer.
Crossover:
A good crossover must account not only for the electrical
characteristics of the components but also the acoustic effects
contributed by the cabinet. We take two approaches to correcting this
problem. First, we critically place the drivers to minimize these
effects. Next, we optimize the crossover design with computer testing,
we utilize our proprietary circuit designs and then do critical
listening.
